I absolutely love this organization! Being a former Child Protective Service Worker (intern), working with individuals who have a mental illness and struggle to raise a family, and working as an outreach counselor for children, adolescents, and families, has provided me the opportunity to experience how important it is for youth to have positive, encouraging, and supportive role models in their lives. Additionally, being a big brother or sister has great rewards within itself. Having the influence to impact someone’s life and help them make positive choices provides for a great feeling of success. Even better- watching a child or teen grow into a strong and self-confident individual is one accomplishment you will never forget. Youth are very influential and sensitive to their environment at their age. To have an adult in their lives that they know care about them, that they can confide in, and that they can utilize to model their decisions after is one of the greatest gifts anyone can offer!
